Great Jock Itch Natural Treatments

Jock itch manifests itself as an itching and burning in the groin area. Both men and women are susceptible to developing jock itch, especially if they exercise in tight clothing. If you do develop that painful itching and redness, there are several jock itch natural treatments you can try.

Garlic Cure

The first is a garlic compress. To make this compress, smash three gloves of garlic and mix with a cup of olive oil. Stir together so the oil mixes with the garlic juice. Completely saturate a cotton ball with this mixture and apply it as a compress over the infected area. Do this twice a day until the rash is gone.

Listerine Wash

Using Listerine, wash the infected area twice a day. You will feel some burning, but Listerine contains alcohol which helps kill the fungi causing the rash. Listerine also contains menthol and thymol which help cool the infected area as they also reduce the itching.

Baby Powder

The fungus which causes jock itch settles into the moist areas around the groin and along the inner thighs. Try dusting baby powder onto these spots right after you shower. Baby powder has some antibacterial properties and can help reduce the itching and redness of jock itch.

Salt Bath

Add two or three cups of common salt to a lukewarm bath. Immerse yourself in the bath for at least fifteen minutes, ensuring all of the infected areas are covered by the salt water. The salt will help kill the fungi and will dry out the rash. You can also add black tea or tea tree oil to the salt water bath for an additional treatment.

Tea Tree Oil

You can use tea tree oil to help treat jock itch, as well as other types of skin infections. Tea tree oil contains certain antifungal properties which make it great for curing jock itch. This oil can also help reduce or eliminate inflammation and itchiness. Saturate a cotton ball with the oil and apply to the infected area, at least, two times a day. Do this for several days or until the symptoms disappear. If the tea tree oil results in a burning sensation, try mixing four or five drops of the tea tree oil with another tablespoon of coconut oil.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Try using apple cider vinegar diluted with a bit of water and applying it to the jock itch. This vinegar has strong antibacterial and antifungal properties which can be used to treat skin infections. Mix together a cup of water with two tablespoons of vinegar. Apply the vinegar solution to the infected areas and allow it to air dry. Use this process two or three times every day.

Rubbing Alcohol

Another good jock itch natural treatment is rubbing alcohol. Again, alcohol helps kill the fungus which causes jock itch. Begin with isopropyl alcohol. Saturate a cotton ball with the alcohol and use it on the infected area. Do not wash off the alcohol, instead, allow it to dry naturally. Do this several times a day.

These natural treatments for jock itch are effective at eliminating both the rash and the itchiness. Try one of these treatments to see if any are effective for you. Try Jock Itch Natural Treatment today
